Why Dice????
Hi!
You're probably wondering why you just got a set of dice. Fun, right??
Here's the metaphor and the story.
My family loves to play a dice game called Farkle. The rules are LINKED HERE.
In Farkle, we roll six dice. There's a bit of chance (luck) involved, but also a bit of decision making as we hold or risk it all for the next roll (“risk it for the biscuit” as we say).
There are micro moments of hope and fear, just like in our larger lives.
We want to do well/ win/ stay in the game, just like in our larger lives.
Our thoughts, feelings, insights to patterns and our decisions all have implications for the game… as do the absolute random circumstances we find ourselves in, just like in our larger lives.
We might win big, sputter along, or never even launch.
Rolling the dice over and over again, especially with people you're fond of brings a practice of gracious winning, gracious losing… it offers us a chance to surf the highs and lows rather than be swallowed up by them and it offers a practice in equanimity.
The entire point of dice (at least when we play) is to have a good time. To have positive interactions as time passes. To make memories. To play. To let the wins and losses come and go, holding neither very tightly…
May this invitation to play lead you toward delight and connection.
With Love & Purpose,
Chrissie
